sick

I am so glad that yesterday is over.
I try really hard to stay positive on this blog...but yesterday was bad.
About 10 minutes before Ethan left for Saint George (for 3 days),
Kade started puking.
I felt bad for him but also felt bad for myself.
I had signed up for a couple art classes in SLC and they were scheduled for yesterday. Jackie said that she would still watch the kids and she would just call me if he got worse. We got ready and left for her house. We didn't even make it a mile away before Kade started getting sick in the bowl I had placed on his lap. We just turned around and went home. I was having such an internal struggle....do I let Jackie take care of him so I can go do my thing? Do I stay home and lose out on what I had paid for? In the end I just stayed home. I called my Mom at work and cried. I called the Dr. and they said to try pedialyte. Of course, we didn't have any. I didn't want to call anyone because everyone I know has kids. So we went to Walmart, Kade with that bowl on his lap in the cart again. Luckily, he only had to use it once. I bought the kids new underwear and bandaids (aren't I great!) Pedialyte and saltines. I talked to Jenn and Ash and complained. Jody checked on us lots. Kade had it from both ends for about 8 hours. It was so sad to see him so sick. We watched Snow White, Toy Story 2 (two times) and Scooby Doo all day. I didn't do much, played online and stayed near Kade in case he needed to be sick again. Right before bed he was finally feeling better so I sewed up some of his quilt.

I made chicken rice soup for dinner and luckily Kade was able to keep that down.
He was in bed by 7 PM and I kept checking on him to make sure a fever didn't show up. Luckily he slept through the night and so far Add doesn't have anything.

I am grateful that I was scheduled off yesterday so I didn't have to call in sick.
I am grateful for people to check on us and let me vent.
I am grateful this didn't happen to Ethan while I was out of town (stressful)
I am grateful that Add made herself busy by dancing in her new underwear b/c it made me laugh
I am grateful for a washer and dryer.

PW.

Last night Ethan and I went
to the Pioneer Woman's book signing for her new cookbook.
There were so many people there.
SO MANY.
But she was really funny and sweet and signed lots and lots of books.
It was really fun and Ethan and I had a great time
wandering around waiting for our turn,
drinking Starbucks and eating french fries.

ps. I still want to own a bookstore/bakery/coffee shop

oh man, 10 years!

Today is the 10th anniversary of me + Costco.
Last week the CEO of Costco, Jim Sinegal came to our warehouse
and I asked him for a picture to commemorate the occasion.
On the left is Casey (my 10 yr. membership friend) Jim in the center and then me.
Top Reasons why I'm glad I work for Costco:

1. Costco insurance has paid for two pregnancies, deliveries, ET's shoulder surgery and one NICU stay.
2. Free contacts and glasses every year for my eyes
(We have excellent insurance)
3. This job put Ethan through school
4. I have made lots of awesome friends
5. I now get 4 weeks vacation!!
6. They have always been flexible with school schedules and my family needs.
7. I don't have a college degree (boo) but I make pretty decent money

Halloween 2009

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this was our best Halloween yet.
Our kids are old enough to trick or treat and love it.
It was great weather and great company and great food.
Kade and Add....pink Cinderella and Robin Hood.
(My mom made both of the costumes!)
One house handed out fangs, which were a hit.
Peyton, Drew, E holding Dane, Kade, Add and Alex.
Jeanna and Eric drove in from CA
so their baby Dane got to have his first Halloween with the cousins.

It's always us, Aar & Nan, T & Rhett, Jim & Myrna for Halloween
and this year we had Jones, Jeanna, Eric and Dane so it was even more fun.
I am hoping Nan will post more awesome photos of E's sweet moves.

Happy Halloween!!
I love our traditions!

ready for Halloween

The kids have been wearing Halloween pj pants that my Mom made last year.
Kade wouldn't sit still for a picture, he was moving his legs to the Fresh Beat Band.
We made these creepy candy filled hands last week.
I saw the idea in Cookie magazine.
The kids picked candy corn and tootsie rolls to fill them.
We also hung a creepy hand from each of their bedroom doors.
Kade wanted the "Go Away" note.

I hope you have a great weekend.
We are heading to Aaron & Nan's for Halloween tomorrow night.
It is one of my very favorite traditions!
